Chinese scientists reported on alterations in immune system after COVID-19
Coronavirus provokes long term immunity alterations in recovered people, say scientists from the Institute of Virology in the Chinese city of Wuhan.
Scientists analyzed health condition of 55 patients of different age who have recovered after COVID-19. They found out that the level of lymphocytes – blood cells that are responsible for the immunity- is below the line.
Lymphocytes didn’t regenerate even after 11 weeks after recovery. So, the scientists concluded that the virus has a strong influence on the blood cells and possible immune alterations.
Earlier in July, Tobias Kurt, a professor at the Charite University Medical Complex and Harvard University, reported that coronavirus provokes long term consequences in recovered people.
Kurt also noted that the complications, including permanent COVID-19 symptoms, are observed in young, previously healthy, people. “We exactly know that the virus influences on the work of some organs, but we still cannot be sure whether these consequences will become permanent or they will disappear with time”, the scientist added.
