Scientists have started talking about a new mutation of the coronavirus, which turned out to be more contagious. The existing precautions will become ineffective, experts said. The new strain got the name D614G.

The modified virus is now actively spreading in the United States. In Houston, for example, 99.9% of the people studied were infected with a new variant of the coronavirus.

The mutation has led to an increase in the number of spines in the virus, with the help of which Covid-19 clings to cells inside the human body. Thus, the virus has a better chance of living in the host’s body.

When infected, a person receives more particles of the virus than before. This means that the treatment will take longer, and the infection itself will be inevitable. The only good news is that the symptoms remain the same in strength. The mortality rate from coronavirus also remained at the same level.

If the D614G virus replaces existing strains, people could become more vulnerable. It will be impossible to control the epidemic, and the usual means of preventing infection will be useless.

The studies were carried out by specialists from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. The D614G hazard was also studied at the University of Chicago and the University of Texas at Austin.

Today everyone is encouraged to wear masks in public and wash their hands thoroughly. In the near future, these measures will be ineffective. The only reliable then will be the vaccine. Unfortunately, there is still no means in the world whose safety and action has been fully proven.
