WHO says there is no cure for coronavirus and it may not appear
Despite the fact that scientists and large pharmaceutical companies around the world are making a huge amount of effort to eliminate the coronavirus, it has not yet been possible to get a positive result. This statement was made by Tedros Ghebreyesus, who holds the post of head of WHO.
The heads of state should initially use basic measures to ensure that the coronavirus does not spread further. But they do not work in all countries and the reasons for this are very different. For example, in the United States and India, about 50 thousand new infections are recorded every day. In total, almost 18.5 million people have fallen ill throughout the planet today. At the same time, 700 thousand people died.
Scientists have made good progress in finding drugs that will help make the condition of patients less severe. Some vaccines have already entered the final stages of testing. At the same time, during a regular press conference, Tedros Gebreisus said that there is no really effective cure for coronavirus and it may not appear.
WHO representatives added that until an effective coronavirus vaccine appears, it will not be possible to solve the problem with the disease and return to a full life.
To date, more than 150 vaccines are being developed around the world, which are potential cures for coronavirus. About 25 of them have entered the clinical trial phase. Pfizer and Moderna carried out a third phase of drug trials last week. Several hundred people have been vaccinated.
Until an effective drug has been developed, the authorities can only contain and control the spread of the coronavirus. This requires isolation, quarantine, timely treatment of the infected and those who have recently been in contact with them.
