White House COVID-19 advisor says coronavirus will never become a common cold
Some time ago, Donald Trump made a public statement that the coronavirus would soon be eradicated. Anthony Fauci, the White House’s Covid-19 adviser, expressed the exact opposite opinion in his speech.
Anthony Fauci is not optimistic about the further “battle” of people against the coronavirus. He is confident that it is impossible to completely defeat the disease, but it is quite possible to reduce its spread to a minimum through the right public health measures, achieving a certain level of herd immunity and having a good vaccine. In the appearance of the last point, Fauci is confident that the mass production of the vaccine should begin soon.
Only a combination of these elements can give a person complete control over the virus. The advisor focuses on the fact that it will not be possible to completely destroy the virus. Also, it will not become a common cold, as it is highly contagious and manifests itself through many symptoms.
Fauci has yet to see an infection in which a large number of people would not have symptoms. Or, conversely, the virus would affect the body so badly that a person is not able to get out of bed for several months. These people need intensive care and ventilation.
So far, “no light is visible at the end of the tunnel” in terms of victory over the coronavirus. In this regard, Anthony Fauci advised governors to close bars and force everyone to wear masks. People have not yet reached the end of the pandemic, so it’s too early to relax.
