Chinese scientist, who had made a breakthrough in COVID-19 treatment was killed
Bing Liu, 37, died of multiple gunshot wounds. His employer noted that Bing almost made a breakthrough in coronavirus treatment, which could safe the humanity.
Bing was at his house in Pennsylvania. It is known that the killer was 46-year-old Hao Gu, who lately committed a suicide. The police found evidence that the scientist’s death was connected with his work.
According to representatives of the University of Pittsburgh, Bing Liu did important research: he simulated biological systems in order to understand the mechanisms of SARS-CoV-2 at the cellular level.
Bing was respected by many colleagues because at the age of 37, he was able to make a unique contribution to science. The murder incident is now being investigated at the federal level, since the investigator and killer were not US citizens.
