The largest vaccine trials have started in the USA

The final stage of coronavirus vaccine trials of the American biotechnology company Moderna have started in the USA on July, 27. Such statement was published on the company’s website.

The trial will be conducted according to the method of a randomized placebo-controlled study in a 1: 1 ratio on 30 thousand people.

This will be the largest clinical trial of the COVID-19 vaccine on its scale throughout the world.

Moderna received $483 million from the Department of Biomedical Research of the US Department of Health for the creation of the vaccine. At the same time, they were supposed to conduct the final stage on the small group of the volunteers.

But during the discussion and consultation with the participation of the Food and Drug Administration, the parties decided to increase the group significantly. Thus, the company received additional $472 million.
