Scientists called the disease that can protect from coronavirus

Scientists at the La Jolla Institute of Immunology in California suggested that people who recovered after the cold may have immunity against coronavirus.

Researchers have analyzed the blood samples, collected two years before the coronavirus outbreak. The half of them had T-cells which detected SARS-CoV-2 in laboratory conditions, another 20% had cells which were able to neutralize the virus.  Scientists noted that it would be “tempting to assume” that a cold may cause some immunity against coronavirus. But this suggestion needs to be proved.

This theory explains why some people have a mild form of coronavirus, and some people even die. Co-author of the research also added that conducted experiment shows that coronavirus immunity is not generated.

People have a great concern that COVID-19 doesn’t provoke the generation of immunity, and the re-infection only strengthen their fears. But now, knowing that people can generate strong immunity should largely put an end to these fears, he said.
