WHO confirmed that 141 COVID-19 vaccines are being developed
The creation of 141 vaccines is carried on in the world. Some of them are one step away from success, says the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adanom Gebreyesus.
“The USA has been the main WHO partner since 1948. WE have been working together to improve life conditions of people around the world. If the USA come back to this crucial work, we shouldn’t think about those who may suffer from this and about something that may be lost. As this will affect everyone”. Pandemic showed how strong the international community needs close cooperation to overcome healthcare crisis, he believes. “We are not only too far from neutralization of risks, but also many people are still infected”.
The WHO Director-General noted that the vaccine development has started as soon as the information about the virus came in sight. He added that 141 vaccines are in development now. Some of them are close to success, but still, there’s no certainty that they will present full protection.
Gebreyesus is afraid that the world remains unprotected in front of future threats in healthcare.
