Antibodies found in Russian scientists who tested the vaccine from COVID-19
Antibodies to coronavirus were detected in the staff of the N. F. Gamalei National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, who voluntarily tested the vaccine they were developing.
“All the developers who participated in the creation of this vaccine were vaccinated voluntarily, realizing its safety and the responsibility that exists during the development of the drug, that is, they could not afford to go into self-isolation, nor, moreover, get sick <…> Naturally [antibodies are]. We have not just tested antibodies, we have checked the presence of protective antibodies that neutralize viruses, ”he said.
Gunzburg previously reported that scientists at the Gamalea Center injected themselves with the vaccine they are developing. The tests were successful and did not reveal side effects.
Vaccination
Mass vaccination of the population against a new coronavirus infection may begin in the fall of 2020, but the process can take up to nine months, Gunzburg said.
“We hope that mass vaccination will begin in early autumn. But, naturally, at the same time the whole population will not be able to get this vaccine, we will assume that in the best case it will take six months, seven to nine months, the vaccination process and its scaling, ”he said.
Gunzburg said earlier that clinical trials of a vaccine against coronavirus, developed by the center’s specialists, could begin in the first decade of June. According to him, first of all, it will be necessary to vaccinate medical workers who are directly confronted with the virus in assisting patients with the infection caused by it, as well as organized teams.
