WHO announces the development of a coronavirus vaccine and the start of its first trials
The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adan Gebreisus made a sensational statement in which he announced the creation of the developed vaccine against coronavirus and the beginning of its testing. Speaking at a press conference in Geneva, WHO Director-General Tedros Adan Gebreisus said that leading scientists in several countries have achieved unimaginable success in the scientific field and in an incredibly short time have developed a vaccine for a new strain of Wuhan coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. This is stated on the official page of the organization on Twitter.
Gebreisus emphasized that the “scientific breakthrough” was due to the dedicated work of the experts involved in the study of the coronavirus and the development of a vaccine against it. According to the head of WHO, the first tests of the vaccine began only two months after the genetic sequence of a new strain of this dangerous infectious disease was discovered, with such incredible speed spreading throughout the entire planet. On behalf of the agency entrusted to him and the entire world community, Tedros Adan Gebreisus thanked the researchers who had come together who owned the “unimaginable achievement” and who decided to conduct a systematic evaluation of experimental therapy.
Gebreisus drew the attention of journalists to the fact that Argentina, Bahrain, Canada, France, Iran, Norway, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland and Thailand have already confirmed that they will join the test and, undoubtedly, many more countries will join this vital mission.
